AION 2 Class Tier List
Content updated:
There is no official AION 2 best-class ranking. For a practical shortlist, compare Templar for protection, Cleric for healing, Chanter for support, and the melee, ranged or magic classes for your preferred combat style. These are role choices, not measured S/A/B tiers; a PvE ranking cannot automatically answer a PvP question.

Choose a main from the job you want to do
For a first shortlist, focus on the job that feels appealing: protecting allies, sustained melee, burst or control at range, spirit-driven tactics, healing, or party support. The official roster explains those identities more safely than an invented ranking.
Community opinions can still be useful as personal context, but they belong after the official role reference and should never be presented as an NC-published answer.
| Your priority | Classes to compare | What to check in footage or a build |
|---|---|---|
| Protect a group | Templar | Defensive responsibility and the party composition |
| Heal or support | Cleric / Chanter | Healing versus mantra-led support; do not treat them as identical |
| Fight up close | Gladiator / Assassin / Brawler | Greatsword, shadow-led attacks or Gauntlet combinations |
| Attack at range | Ranger / Sorcerer | Ranged weapon identity versus offensive magic |
| Spirit-based play | Elementalist | Whether the spirit-focused style suits you |
No official tier order is published
The Korean official Guidebook provides the current nine-class roster, while NC’s English news documents class changes. Neither source publishes S, A, or B tiers, a permanent best-class list, or a single ranking that applies across every activity.
A tier chart without a date, service, mode, and build context is not a reliable decision tool. It can mix older balance assumptions with a current roster that has changed.
What official updates do confirm
NC’s March update describes an all-class overhaul and names a new Stigma skill for Gladiator, Templar, Chanter, Cleric, Elementalist, Sorcerer, Assassin, and Ranger. Its July update adds Brawler to the current roster.
These updates prove that the class landscape is active. They do not quantify damage, prove a meta, or support a claim that a particular class is safest for every player.
- Compare official role notes before looking at a player tier chart.
- Prefer a dated chart tied to one service and one activity over a generic “best class” claim.
- Recheck the official update after a class overhaul or new class release.
Why PvE and PvP need different tier lists
NC’s 25 March update separates PvE and PvP damage calculations. Its 6 July update describes both capped combat in Chaotic Upper Reshanta and equal starting conditions in Battlefield Siege. A result from one setting is not proof of strength in another.
For solo PvE, look for encounter completion and survivability with comparable equipment. For group PvE, check what the party needs rather than sorting every role by damage. For PvP, identify the exact mode and whether gear or stats are capped. These are evidence checks, not claims from our own playtesting.
- Require a patch date, region and named activity.
- Check equipment, build and comparison method before trusting a rank.
- Do not label a healer weak merely because its damage is lower.
- Re-evaluate older eight-class charts after Brawler’s introduction.
Want a relaxed class? Test the workload, not a tier label
There is no verified global actions-per-minute ranking in this guide. Use this editorial trial checklist to compare the role you enjoy before investing heavily in a character. A healer or tank can have low button frequency yet high responsibility in a group.
- Choose solo play, group support or competitive PvP first: the same class can feel very different across activities.
- Try a short repeatable encounter and note how often you switch targets, move, refresh skills and react to danger.
- Check whether the keybindings and visual cues feel comfortable; ask whether you can recover when you miss an action.
- Compare candidates under the same content and equipment conditions. Use the class profiles below for identities, then confirm the actual rotation in your service.
Player perspective · supplied class explainer
A preference is not a balance verdict
The supplied explainer offers role-based reasons a player might enjoy a class, such as the pressure of Assassin, the responsibility of Templar or Cleric, or the tactical appeal of Elementalist. That framing can help players identify a play style they will stick with.
It does not establish a best class, a launch meta, or a globally applicable performance order. Treat it as a clearly labelled player viewpoint alongside the official roster.
